At 120 inches, the [Scion] iQ is actually quite a bit larger than the 98-inch Smart ForTwo, but you can’t help but get the impression Toyota is directly targeting that car with its choice of names. The iQ is actually, according to Toyota, the “world’s smallest four-passenger vehicle.” The thinking behind the 3+1 thing is that the front passenger seat is mounted a bit more forward than the driver’s seat, creating a smidge more leg room behind the passenger, thus enabling the transportation of a hobbit, as opposed to the quadruple amputee that will need to sit behind the driver.

In what we’re sure is an extremely important feature for potential iQ customers, the trunk can fit two golf bags when the seats are folded down. In an effort to overcome what will surely be lots of safety concerns about such a small vehicle, the iQ will be fitted as standard with 10 airbags. Motivation comes courtesy of a 90 HP, 1.3-liter engine.

2010 is going to be a banner year for Scion, as they roll out an all new xB RS 7.0! And it’s about time the xB gets a new model, as it is one of the top selling Scion vehicles. Their new “RS 7.0″ debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show this past week.

The exterior design of the xB RS 7.0 remains similar to the rolling box of previous xB’s. There are plenty of hot colors and additional design features like spoilers and different grills that can be purchased for your Scion – they are the king of personalized vehicles after all. Scion is adding on their center-exit exhaust system with a TRD sport muffler. The new xB is lowered on TRD springs. Inside, passengers will gawk at silver and purple accents throughout, and a numbered stainless steel badge too.

Arriving in dealerships this month, only 2000 of these purple people-movers will be produced. Prices starts at $18,990 with the five-speed manual—a $2500 jump over the base xB—or $19,940 with the four-speed automatic… and another $320 if you want the optional rear spoiler.

At last year’s SEMA show, MV Designz turned heads by turning a Scion xB wagon into a four-door pickup. This year, there’s a new xB hauler headed to Vegas – the Bowls LA Scion xB SEMA project vehicle. Bowls LA is an urban lifestyle and apparel store in Southern California, founded by Brandon Leung. Leung also started JTuned.com, a Japanese automotive aftermarket tuning website.

The Bowls project truck is part of this year’s ‘Scion xB Tuner Challenge’ that pits three designers, including Leung, against each other to build the best customized xB for SEMA. Each was given a car to modify, with $10,000 cash awarded for the best vehicle.

For inspiration, Leung took design cues from a 1970 Toyota Crown pickup truck, which was never sold in the U.S. The feel of the vehicle is ’70s Southern California, and Bowls has incorporated several trick elements into the project. Bowls LA partnered with Advanced Design Fabrication to convert the xB from humble city people mover into a pickup. First, they lengthened its wheelbase to accommodate a matching bike that will sit in its cargo box.

On the outside, the truck’s front end has been reworked with a custom grille and Five Axis Design lip kit. Mooneyes bullet fender mirrors sit forward on the fenders, like a Japanese domestic car. Similar to the Tundra Hot Rod, the Bowls xB rolls on 20-inch full moon wheels and its bed is finished with wood.

Bowls LA Scion xB project truck interior – Inside, ADF fabricated a complete custom interior with a roll cage, a bench seat and Simpson race harnesses.

There’s a reason for the go fast kit inside the cabin. The xB’s engine has been tweaked with an AEM cold air intake, performance parts from Brian Crower and a Nitrous Oxide injection system. The five-speed manual transmission has been strengthened with a Toyota Racing Development heavy-duty clutch and to help lay all that power to the road, there’s a TRD limited-slip diff. TRD has also donated a front strut tower brace and rear sway bar that work with a digital air ride kit from Air Lift.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper SEMA tuner vehicle without audio enhancements. Pioneer has provided a double-din DVD multimedia receiver with a 7-inch widescreen display, two component speaker sets, two 12-inch shallow mount subwoofers, two mono amplifiers and two 4-channel amps. ADF created the housing and racks for the entertainment system.

The Scion car company’s xA subcompact five-door hatchback has been replaced in 2008 with the xD. What you essentially get is the same vehicle, but with upgraded styling, power, features and more!

The interior can seat up to five passengers and the backseat is 60/40-split. It can recline 10 degrees and move forward or back 6 inches. This allows great versatility to the trunk storage space and gives this subcompact an exceptional cargo capacity. The dual-compartment glove box and various hidden storage compartments scattered around the car only add to the cargo capacity.

Further conveniences include an integrated vehicle gauge cluster for easier viewing for the driver, MP3 capabilities, power features, air conditioning, remote keyless entry and more! All of this keeps safe with six standard airbags, including front side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags for everyone and of course the front airbags. Also standard are antilock brakes. Optional safety features include an electronic stability system and traction control; Scion makes sure this vehicle stays safe!

All of this gains momentum with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 128 horsepower. This is teamed with a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. Combine this new engine with the refined exterior of the xD and you have yourself a quality 2008 vehicle.

Nimble, safe and eye-catching are a few words that begin to describe this new Scion vehicle. Check it out today, and follow by customizing it to your liking with dozens of after-purchase add-on accessories!

Appealing to the younger market, the Scion branch of Toyota Corporation has been creating innovative automobiles since 2003. Because of its youth, Scion has few vehicles in its lineup; however, these few vehicles receive star treatment in their construction. The xB compact station wagon is one of these, and it really catches the eye.

The unique shape is what you’ll first notice. One could argue that the boxy exterior resembles that of the Chrysler PT Cruiser. For 2008, the wheelbase and length have been increased and the vehicle now sits closer to the ground. Some styling revamps to the curve of the vehicle, the front headlights and grill also give the xB a fresher appearance for the New Year.

Scion listened to its customers input and has upped the power of the xB. The new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive; a four-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shift provision and overdrive is optional. All of this power propels the sizable five-occupant interior. Not only can the passengers fit in with room to spare, but also the cargo space has increased dramatically because of the extended car length. The 60/40-split backseat can also fold to expand the carrying capacity. A trip computer is provided to the driver, and it displays vehicle diagnostics, external weather, gas mileage and more. Other features that come with the 2008 xB include remote keyless entry, power features, an air conditioning unit and audio systems. Of course, the post-purchase add-on accessories that Scion is famous for only add to all of this, except you get to pick only what you want.

In addition, standard with the vehicle are traction control, an electronic stability system, four-wheel-disc antilock brakes and six standard airbags. These airbags include side-impact for the front seats, side-curtain for both rows and the standard frontal airbag system.

All of the new power and standard features only add to the appeal of this aesthetic road machine. The 2008 Scion xB is worth a look at, younger and older drivers alike!

Originally, a Toyota concept car, the Scion tC has become this Toyota-owned company’s compact sports coupe. With some changes in body pieces, technology, power and more, the tC comes back in 2008 as prevailing as ever. Of course, what remains unique to Scion is the option to customize your vehicle with various options after the purchase. This is just the drawing board for which you can draw your ideal picture.

The new silver-colored accents in the interior cabin give a distinguishing look to the center control cluster, dashboard and other sections of the boundaries. The five-occupants that can fit inside stay contented with air conditioning, impressive stereo system, MP3 capabilities and a panoramic moonroof/sunroof. The rear seat is 60/40-split and allows for a 45 degree recline. These confines keep safe with a frontal airbag system, including driver’s knee airbags as standard and optional side-impact and side-curtain airbags to boot. Not only airbags, but also the 2008 tC comes with all-disc antilock brakes and an impressive safety rating under its belt.

The front and the back of the tC have been revised. Underneath the altered front sits a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is integrated with Variable Valve Timing and a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The 2008 tC drives great, is conveniently operated and is a nimble road warrior waiting for you to check it out!
