What we really like talking about, and looking at, is the updated interior in 2011′s Scion xB: with center console receiving a sliding armrest; the instrument cluster tweaked to improve readability; and the steering column now incorporates tilt and telescoping functions. Under the hood – 2011′s xB contains a 158 horse power, 2.4-liter engine, which can be mated either to a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic.

Scion xB pricing will rise by approximately $150, so expect to pay base $17,340 and automatic-equipped cars, $18,290. Look for 2011′s xB to hit Scion dealerships later this March.

2010′s Chicago Auto Show is one of the largest car events in North America – so it’s the perfect place to view Scion’s tC & the tC Release Series. “Release” is a 6-speed manual RS 6.0 starting at $19,290 – which includes $670 in destination fees; an automatic adds $800 to the sticker.

tC Release Series features blue exterior with black racing stripes, black fabric and blue highlights, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with blue stitching. Alpine supplies the 200-watt audio and navigation system, with a 4.3-inch touch screen, USB connectivity, RCA outputs, and HD radio. RS 6.0 is due to hit dealers in March. But for now, when an Auto Show comes to your town, check it – you may get a chance to test a Scion tC.

SCION ANNOUNCES PRICING FOR tC RELEASE SERIES 5.0 – TO BE DISPLAYED AT THE 2009 CHICAGO AUTO SHOW

Scion, of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., announced today that the only limited-production tC for 2009, the tC Release Series 5.0 (tC RS 5.0), will have a Toyota Racing Development (TRD) theme and be available at dealer showrooms in March. The 2009 tC RS 5.0 will be on display in the Scion space at the Chicago Auto Show, February 11-22, for media and public days.

The 2009 tC RS 5.0 features gloss black exterior paint and numerous performance products from TRD. TRD edition 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, in matte black with red trim, and red TRD lowering springs provide this tC with its menacing presence. For additional stability when cornering, the tC is fitted with a red TRD rear sway bar. A TRD sport muffler gives the tC RS 5.0 an aggressive sound signature, while a TRD exterior badge marks the car. A black rear lip spoiler will also be available.

The TRD theme is continued inside with a black leather steering wheel featuring red stitching, black seats with red accents and floor mats with the TRD logo. The tC RS 5.0 is also equipped with a cargo mat. Individually numbered badging completes the uniqueness of this vehicle.

No more than 2,000 units of the tC Release Series 5.0 will be built. The tC RS 5.0 model will carry a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $2,300 over the base price of the tC. The base MSRP for the standard tC with a manual transmission is $17,000, while the standard tC with an automatic transmission model carries a MSRP of $17,800. The available black spoiler has a MSRP of $285, not including installation.

The delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee for all Scion models is $670 and is not included in the MSRP. DPH fee for vehicles distributed by Southeast Toyota (SET) and Gulf States Toyota (GST) may vary.

The interior can seat up to five passengers and the backseat is 60/40-split. It can recline 10 degrees and move forward or back 6 inches. This allows great versatility to the trunk storage space and gives this subcompact an exceptional cargo capacity. The dual-compartment glove box and various hidden storage compartments scattered around the car only add to the cargo capacity.

Further conveniences include an integrated vehicle gauge cluster for easier viewing for the driver, MP3 capabilities, power features, air conditioning, remote keyless entry and more! All of this keeps safe with six standard airbags, including front side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags for everyone and of course the front airbags. Also standard are antilock brakes. Optional safety features include an electronic stability system and traction control; Scion makes sure this vehicle stays safe!

All of this gains momentum with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 128 horsepower. This is teamed with a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. Appealing to the younger market, the Scion branch of Toyota Corporation has been creating innovative automobiles since 2003. Because of its youth, Scion has few vehicles in its lineup; however, these few vehicles receive star treatment in their construction.
